In this one-hour session, attendees will learn about the different levels of data offered by the US Census Bureau. It will describe the tools that researchers can utilize to access these data ranging from restricted use data available through Research Data Centers (RDCs) to public use data available through IPUMS and data.census.gov. Experts from the Census Bureau will provide an overview of available datasets covering business and demographic data, and participants will learn how to identify sources for specific types of data. The session will also showcase the new, experimental data product series (e.g., Community Resilience Estimates, Household Pulse Survey). These innovative statistical products use new data sources and methodologies to address the need for new, regularly occurring data products that address issues including social vulnerability, social and economic impacts related to COVID-19, and others. The session will feature a discussion of where to find additional resources and will allow for Q&A with technical experts.
