Data science education provides fertile ground for project-based and experiential learning. In this session we will explore models for project-based learning that aims to optimize health and well-being. One such model is the ADAPT model from the NC State University Data Science Academy. ADAPT stands for All-campus Data Science Accessible Project-Based Teaching and Learning. The session will briefly introduce the ADAPT model, then allow participants to engage in discussion and exploration in which they can share models from their own institutions, consider elements of each other's models they would like to try, and discuss how to operationalize relevant research on project-based teaching and learning. We will also discuss ways to define and measure success. The goal is for each participant to leave with an action item for their future work in developing and enacting project-based teaching and learning that can facilitate health and well-being.
